POSITIVITY and dedication has earned recognition for friendly Georgia Loud.
The upbeat 20-year-old, who is studying for a Level 3 marketing NVQ at Fareham College, was named Apprentice of the Year by her college.
Georgia, of Titchfield Road, Stubbington, impressed her employers at her placement at Fareham Borough Council-run theatre Ferneham Hall, in Osborn Road. She collected her cup at a presentation at the theatre.
She said: ‘I really like working here. I have always wanted to work in a theatre and when the opportunity came up to work and study at the same time I took it.
‘I didn’t want to go to university and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.’
Georgia was nominated by her tutor Erica Coutable and won the title from a group of 300 apprentices.
Erica said: ‘I nominated Georgia as she has been an outstanding contributor to the group. Georgia is a popular member of the class, has a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and is a pleasure to teach.’
Georgia said she would like to stay on at the theatre once she completes her course this September. Ferneham Hall manager Rod Cameron has been Georgia’s mentor since she started in September 2012.
Mr Cameron said: ‘I’m very proud of her, she’s been an asset to Ferneham Hall. It has been a pleasure to have her here.’
Tim Ponsford is from Apprentices for Business, a not-for-profit independent organisation that places apprentices with businesses.
It placed Georgia with Ferneham Hall.
‘Georgia has all the attributes we look for in our apprentices: motivation, passion, a great work ethic and desire to improve herself,’ said Mr Ponsford.
‘Georgia is a real advocate for apprenticeships.
‘She is fully deserving of this award and everyone at Apprentices for Business is delighted to have played a small part in her success.’
