A CONSTRUCTION apprentice from Waterlooville has won first place in the Essential Skills category at this year’s National Construction College (NCC) Awards.

Nathan Heaney, who works at Rowlands Plant Services in Alchorne Place, Hilsea, was presented with his award by NCC director Andy Walder and broadcaster and former Olympic athlete Colin Jackson.

He said: ‘It was a real honour to be nominated for an award, so to actually win one is great.

‘It’s a privilege to have my hard work recognised, and I’d like to thank the training staff at the NCC for their help and support.’

The National Construction College is run by CITB, a construction training provider.
