A NEW street food market from around the world launches today.

A NEW street food market from around the world launches today.

The Portsmouth Guildhall and the group Love Southsea are starting Street Food Fridays, which will take place next to the guildhall.

The weekly event will run from 11.30am to 6pm and give the city’s food traders the chance to showcase and sell their culinary creations.

Street market organiser Lulu Whitmore said: ‘Our monthly street markets in Palmerston Road already have such a strong selection of local food traders.

‘We’re very excited to be creating this new event in the centre of the city, in collaboration with and right next to the brilliant Portsmouth Guildhall.

‘As always, our focus is on keeping the pound in Pompey by giving independent traders the chance to reach a broad audience with no need for a permanent brick-and-mortar shop.’

The market will include stalls selling all kinds of food from cakes and pizza to international food.

Food traders can apply for a space online at lovesouthsea.co.uk/street-food-fridays.

Both hot and cold food traders

are welcome along to this market, but no alcohol is permitted.

Tea and coffee are also not allowed to be sold.

Traders will need to bring along their own marquee and have public liability insurance as well as health and hygiene certificates.

Markets are planned to take place every Friday.
