ARMED forces personnel who have either left the military or are in their last two years of service have taken part in a career development day.

About 40 people were at the session, which was hosted by insurance giant Zurich at its Whiteley office.

Zurich’s chief risk officer Alastair Allison said: ‘Many military personnel start planning their future careers two years ahead of leaving the service during the resettlement period, and this day was designed to give them greater confidence about the transition from military to civilian life by providing an overview of the types of career paths open to them.’

Major Robert Hutchinson was among the guests there.

He said: ‘I had briefly looked into the financial services industry before but I didn’t really know how my skills would fit, so this day has really helped my understanding.’
