A STRING of franchised Starbucks coffee shops have opened in the UK - the first of their kind.

One of the four franchised outlets is within the Lakeside North Harbour Business Park in Portsmouth.

They are run by Southampton firm 23.5 Degrees, and the purchase was backed by Santander Corporate and Financial.

Anil Patil, founder of 23.5 Degrees, established his first franchise – a Domino’s Pizza – with his wife Astrid in 2005.

The first Starbucks store opened in Liphook in January and the franchise has since opened three further sites, in Portsmouth Lakeside, Bournemouth and most recently in Farnborough.

Anil said: ‘Starbucks is one of the world’s biggest consumer brands, with a peerless offering, but there is obvious room for growth in the Dorset and Hampshire region.’
