A SCHEME that supports small businesses in Hampshire has had its funding renewed for another year.

Enterprise First provides free, impartial and confidential advice and support across the county.

Business owners are able to meet an adviser on a one-to-one basis or attend a free workshop to help get started.

This week, Hampshire County Council agreed to extend its £15,000 grant funding for the scheme for another year.

However, in the council’s report, it said it is likely funding would not be extended beyond 2014 as there are a number of other organisations, such as the Solent and M3 local enterprise partnerships, which could find funding to support the scheme instead.

The scheme was set up in 1981 as a not-for-profit company.
