GOSPORT MP Caroline Dinenage cut the ribbon at an opening ceremony to mark Gosport Post Office’s new home.

New modern premises have opened at 51-52 High Street with the addition of a WHSmith Local store.

The occasion yesterday also marked the official unveiling of the Gosport War Memorial, which used to be at the former post office at 136 High Street.

It is in memory of those who served in the First World War and lists the names of 34 local servicemen who fought in the conflict. The new permanent postmaster is Dal Athwal.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘I am delighted to be here to congratulate Dal Athwal on her new post office and store.

‘Gosport Post Office now looks great – a branch that the town can be proud of. It looks modern, bright and welcoming.’
