BUSINESSES and organisations in Gosport are being asked to take on the Big Green Commuter Challenge.

Its aim is to tackle congestion in and around the town, and make Gosport cleaner and greener.

Any organisation in the PO12 and PO13 postcode areas can take part between May 16 and May 22.

Based on the popular Portsmouth Big Green Commuter Challenge, it’s being run by Gosport’s Transport and Sustainability Partnership as a competition open to businesses and organisations of all sizes.

The partnership’s chairman Tim Houghton said: ‘It’s a great opportunity for people in Gosport to think about alternatives to using the car every day.

‘We’ve got some great incentives including discounted bus and train fares and discount vouchers from Town Bikes and G&S Sports and Leisure in Gosport.

‘It’s a bit of fun but also a genuine opportunity for people to take a look at their travel habits and see if they can save some money and find a more enjoyable and relaxing way of getting to work.’
