APPRENTICES were treated to a visit from the housing minister.

Brandon Lewis was given a tour of Nursery Fields at Denvilles, Havant, where 23 Portsmouth youngsters are constructing a community centre to be officially opened in the summer.

Mr Lewis said: ‘I am hugely impressed by their work and commitment and initiatives like this underline, at grass roots level, the government’s pledge to provide three million apprenticeships over the term of this parliament.’

Plumbing apprentice Lewis Noyce said: ‘He took a real interest in us and was really approachable.’
