RURAL businesses are getting the chance to apply for a share of substantial funding this summer.

Grants will be a part of the £3.2m in EU and government Leader programme that was announced by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs.

The scheme will provide grants to small businesses, farmers, foresters and communities for projects that create jobs and grow the rural economy.

Funding in this region has been allocated to two Local Action Groups (LAGs), which covers Hayling Island and Havant.

Both LAGs are made up of local people and organisations with knowledge of rural issues and their communities.

The process will be supported by West Sussex County Council.
