ASPIRING athletes are being given the opportunity to realise their ambitions in an award scheme.

The Gym, at The Pompey Centre, in Rodney Road, Fratton, is hoping to identify the next Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls through its scheme, called Place on the Podium Awards.

It will give free annual membership to seven deserving winners.

Jim Graham, chief operating officer at The Gym, said: ‘With 82 gyms across the UK, The Gym wants to celebrate the fact that we have so many aspiring athletes using our facilities.

‘The Place on the Podium Awards seek to identify worthy athletes and provide free annual membership to support them in achieving their sporting ambitions.’

To nominate a winner, e-mail 150 words to story@thegymgroup.com explaining why the athlete is so deserving and details of their sporting aspirations and achievements.

Entries must be aged 18 years and over.

Nominations must be received by November 30.
