THE home of Hampshire cricket has signed a deal with a Whiteley company for the supply of IT services.
Communications provider OneCom will provide IT support, broadband and fixed and mobile telephone services to the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
The deal is OneCom’s biggest IT contract so far.
The firm will provide support for the stadium’s workstations and servers, operated by about 65 users, along with restoration and data backup services.
OneCom’s managing director, James Bannister, said: ‘This is a significant new development for us as it underlines our move into unified communications – where IT support, broadband and fixed and mobile telephone services are all supplied as one package.
‘We will be using our monitoring solution to make sure the systems are running as they should – and as soon as a problem is flagged we’re able to deploy an engineer to solve it.
‘It’s very efficient and technically-advanced software and in many cases we will know there’s a problem before they do.’
Mr Bannister added: ‘There will be many more to come but so far this is our biggest deal for IT service.
‘OneCom has a proud association with Hampshire Cricket Club and we’re very proud and delighted to be working with the Ageas Bowl in this way.’
Ageas Bowl commercial director Stuart Robertson said: ‘We are delighted to have deepened and extended our partnership with OneCom via this exciting new agreement and we very much look forward to working together as the Ageas Bowl becomes a truly world-class destination.’
Through remote support, OneCom will use its monitoring software to keep an eye on the systems in real time and deal with any problems.
An engineer from the telecommunications firm will regularly spend time on-site and a representative will be present on match days to ensure the systems are running smoothly.
