A NEW online app lets parents tell their children a bedtime story – even when they’re not at home.

David Martinson, of Locks Heath, has invented Read To Me which allows mums, dads and grandparents to record themselves reading a book, which can be played back at any time.

The dad-of-two, who regularly has to stay abroad on business, says the app is a great way to maintain a bond with his kids Max, seven, and Davey, 10.

‘Although I stay in touch with my family over Skype and the phone, it’s not the same,’ he said.

Mr Martinson, who previously served in the Royal Navy, hopes members of the armed forces serving away from home will use his new invention so their children don’t miss out on a bedtime story from mum or dad.

‘Kids love to listen to their parents’ voices whatever the situation,’ he said.
