NEWS on whether the government will provide funding for faster broadband across Hampshire is expected in the new year.

Hampshire County Council has submitted a bid which could see more than £10m put towards in boosting internet coverage and speeds, mainly in rural areas across the county.

In August the government announced that the national allocation of £530m included £8.4m that had been set aside for rural and hard-to-reach areas in Hampshire, including Portsmouth and Southampton, and the Isle of Wight.
