For the second time in three years Horizon Leisure Centre, off Civic Centre Road, has taken the title.

Last year, the Horizon Leisure Centre on Waterberry Drive, Waterlooville, won the award.

Chief executive Howard Broad said: ‘We are delighted to hear that we have won Gym of the Year 2017.

‘This is yet another amazing achievement for Horizon Leisure Centres.

‘As a company, we have won this award over the past two years so we were hopeful that with our continual improvement programme in place that we stood a good chance to pick up the award for a third consecutive year.

‘This will only serve to spur us on to carry on investing in the facilities and improving the customer experience to give ourselves a chance to retain the award again next year.’

Members at Havant Leisure Centre have access to gyms, a swimming pool, more than 180 classes a week and a cycle studio with virtual technology.

Howard said these facilities help them stand out compared to other gyms in the areas.

He added that at Havant they also have a new toning table studio for inactive members of the community that want to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing.

‘Our strapline is “Making Life Better” and we fully intend to carry on improving the existing centres and providing new facilities to help achieve this goal,’ Howard said.

He added having members of the public pick the winner makes the title more satisfying.

‘Winning this award is particularly pleasing as it is our members that we have to thank for taking the time and trouble to vote for us,’ he said.
