HAYLING Island’s main Post Office will soon be closing for a major refurbishment.

The branch at Elm Grove is being modernised with a new open-plan look.

As part of a national modernisation drive, the office will have a mixture of four serving positions - two open-plan and two traditional screened counter positions.

The branch will close on Wednesday, July 10 at 9am and will reopen on Monday, July 29 at 9am.

During this time customers are asked to use the Post Offices in Havant or Eastoke.

Mark Lawrence, Post Office regional network manager for south and east England, said: ‘We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in this area of Hayling Island.

‘We are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community.’
