HEARTS skipped a beat when the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Cllr Cheryl Buggy celebrated the launch of a new fundraising partnership.

She joined staff at Cosham’s British Heart Foundation (BHF) store as it joined forces with Pink Skip Hire in Gosport.

BHF and the skip hire firm joined together after discovering many resuable items were being thrown away into skips.

It delivers a skip and bags to the store to help the charity continue its life-saving work.

It has collected 120 bags of unwanted items from customers so far, which could be worth as much as £1,800.

Pink Skip Hire’s Shirley Bell said: ‘In our bid to reduce landfill, we noticed the amount of items that could be reused and wanted to partner with BHF.

‘Customers using Pink Skip Hire have been very supportive so far.’
