THERE is only one day left to apply to become a custodian of one of Portsmouth’s best-known cultural centres.

The Kings Theatre says its aim is to look ‘to the future as a centre of excellence for entertainment’ and is looking for new trustees to help it deliver that vision.

The board is looking for volunteers who will be able to bring increased high-level skills to augment an already successful management team, such as strategic business guidance, financial and project management, fundraising, heritage planning and human resources to the table.

Kings Theatre Trust chairman Ron Hasker said: ‘We have come a very long way since the theatre was rescued from closure by the city council and the trust. We are looking ahead to bring a whole new dimension to the Kings to deliver the best entertainment to our current and developing audience.

‘This needs additional trustee support and we are seeking experienced business and management people to join our board of directors.

‘The Kings Theatre already has a strong reputation as a dynamic deliverer of entertainment, business and training in the south of England and this is a great opportunity for people with vision to make it even better.’

Applicants can obtain details by e-mailing or calling (023) 9285 2228.

The closing date for applications is tomorrow, Friday, November 8.
