EMPLOYEES have spoken of their pride at their workplace being rewarded for commitment to equality for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff.
As reported, gay rights charity Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index ranked the Office for National Statistics, which has offices in Titchfield, Newport and London, as 15th out of nearly 400 UK companies in its 2015 index.
The index is based on a range of key indicators such as employment policies, training and engagement with the lesbian gay and bisexual community.
National statistician John Pullinger said: ‘I am proud of work we have done to be recognised as one of the top 20 employers for LGB staff.
‘Our positioning is testament to our commitment to the value we place on the Equality and Diversity of our workforce, and the commitment of staff who work on our submission each year.’
ONS’s commitment to diversity and Spectrum, ONS’s LGBT Network Group, were also shortlisted for two awards in the 2014 Civil Service Equality and Diversity awards.
