THE south east’s housing market saw an increase in activity during October, a survey has revealed.

The latest RICS UK Housing Market survey has found sales levels stayed positive and demand increased during the month.

It shows six per cent more chartered surveyors reporting newly-agreed sales rose rather than fell, and completed sales in the region remained steady at an average of 14 per surveyor over the past three months.

The survey reveals fears over uncertainty in Europe’s economy and restricted mortgage availability are still impacting on the region’s housing market.

But prices remain in negative territory, with 23 per cent more surveyors reporting falls in value.
