HOUSE sellers are being urged to ensure they are getting the best service on offer in Portsmouth during what can be a stressful time.
Portsmouth Property Association’s chairman Ian Lee and secretary Neil Hawkins say it’s important to use estate agents, financiers and surveyors who are renowned for best practice.
And those companies will all be members of the Portsmouth Property Association.
Ian said: ‘We want to get across that people selling or buying a home should be looking for firms that have some sort of affiliation, whether to PPA or the National Association of Estate Agents.’
The PPA is an organisation whose members have to subscribe to the highest standards of ethics and best practice.
The idea is that if the PPA logo is displayed on the firm’s website, or on its door, customers know immediately that they will be well treated.
But that’s not to say every business which is not a member should be avoided.
Ian said: ‘There are people out there who aren’t members but could be, but on the other hand there are people out there who definitely wouldn’t be suitable for membership to the PPA.’
The PPA is sponsoring the Large Business of the Year award at this year’s Business Excellence Awards, run by The News.
Neil said: ‘This will be the fifth year that PPA has sponsored an award and when we first found out we could sponsor it we jumped at it, and haven’t looked back.’
