HOMES take around a month less to sell in Portsmouth than elsewhere in the UK, a survey has found.
Homeowners face an average wait of 28 days for their house to sell, whereas the UK average is 58 days and the London average is 32.
The figures have been released in a City Rate of Sale report by Post Office Mortgages.
They show houses are selling in 1.4 fewer days than last year which, while the local average house price has dropped by two per cent in the same time, demand is picking up.
John Willcock, head of Post Office mortgages, said: ‘This encouraging fall in the time it now takes to sell a property, especially in areas where house prices have long remained sluggish, shows that real confidence is returning to housing markets in many cities across the UK.’
