IT’S not only fancy restaurants that leave you waiting for a table.
Hordes of people were stood queuing out of the door to be the first to get their hands on a KFC in Gosport.
Fried chicken lovers flocked to the fast food giant’s new restaurant in High Street for its grand opening.
Dozens of people were waiting to get inside the restaurant before it started serving the public at 7pm on Monday.
Lee Sharpe was walking past the queues of people in the High Street on his way home.
He said: ‘I noticed KFC had finally opened.
‘Only in Gosport would people be this mental for the colonel.’
Staff inside the restaurant had a busy first day yesterday.
The KFC has taken the place of the town’s Burger King, which closed earlier this year.
People in Gosport started a Facebook campaign to lobby KFC to open a store there.
The group, which was created two years ago on the social networking website, had more than 1,000 members.
Hundreds of people posted messages to KFC’s bosses urging them to set up a restaurant in the town.
