IPADS, touch screens and self-service tills have landed at a McDonald’s restaurant as part of a £500,000 refurbishment.

The fast food chain in West Street, Fareham, has reopened after its three-week refit, which has brought it up to date.

Grant Copper, franchisee of the restaurant, said the new look had gone down well with customers, with 40 per cent of all orders being made through the new check-outs.

He said: ‘I hope people see this as a commitment to the local community. I’m pleased that our customers are voting with their feet and enjoying the new technology.’

Mr Copper said there were still traditional till points at the store, which employs around 40 members of staff, but the new process meant food was prepared to order, meaning it was fresher.
