TECHNOLOGY giant IBM has a new man in charge of its UK operations.

David Stokes has been named as chief executive of IBM UK & Ireland, taking over the role this week.

He has replaced Stephen Leonard at IBM UK, who has moved to become general manager of IBM’s Global Markets, Systems and Technology Group.

Mr Stokes was born and bred in Australia, and has been employed with IBM since 1994.

Previously, he has worked in IBM’s Growth Markets as vice president, general business based in Shanghai and most recently he was based in Prague as general manager, IBM Central and Eastern Europe.

David has also held numerous leadership roles across the UK and Europe.

He is based at IBM’s office on Southbank, London, though the firm’s headquarters is in North Harbour, Portsmouth.
