SHOPPERS are being asked to get their skates on and head to Gunwharf Quays for the opening of its new open-air ice rink.
From Thursday until January 6 the centre’s winter wonderland will be open to all visitors.
Séan Sweeney, centre manager at Gunwharf Quays, said: ‘This is the first time we’ve ever had a real ice rink at Gunwharf Quays and hope everyone who visits will take the opportunity to enjoy the experience.
‘We are confident it will be great entertainment and add to the festive atmosphere for all visitors over the Christmas period.’
The 60ft by 60ft ice rink will be surrounded by stalls selling mulled wine, hot chocolate and chilli dogs.
Visitors can also book coaching sessions through the Gunwharf Quays website.
There will also be fixed classes every Thursday morning from 11am until 1pm, and a 70s ice disco every Friday from 7pm until 9pm, in association with Funktifino, from the Wedgewood Rooms.
For dates, admission times and advance bookings visit http://admiticket.com/gunwharfquays. Tickets are £8 for adults and £4 for children, for a 45-minute session.
