WORK is continuing on repairing 3km of ageing sewer pipes in Southsea.

The work is part of Southern Water’s wastewater renovation programme which aims to ensure the sewer system network in Southsea continues to work effectively.

Sewer renovation work began in September following CCTV surveys and sewer cleaning work carried out in August.

Southern Water’s wastewater infrastructure project manager Lee Hooper said: ‘The work is progressing well with work in some areas of Southsea such as Burgoyne Road expected to complete as early as December 5, which is approximately nine days ahead of schedule.’

The work is expected to be finished by March 2012.
