A PORTCHESTER company is encouraging its tenants to pay their bills on time – by rewarding them with sweet treats from other local firms.

Jonny Boys, managing director of Trafalgar Wharf in Portchester, which was the former Vosper Thornycroft shipyard, lets business units to a range of marine firms.

He says his business is bucking the trend because of his recently-launched Sweet Tooth Index, using local businesses such as Waterlooville’s Ella’s Cupcakes and Pryers Afternoon Tea in Fareham.

Mr Boys said: ‘It started off in March by rewarding our clients with Krispy Kreme donuts.

‘We got 18 clients who pledged to pay on time and we delivered dozens of donuts. Our second quarter was even better when we offered Pryers Afternoon Tea as 24 clients paid on time.’

He is now looking for other local companies to get involved.
