THE best and brightest new ideas in the commercial maritime world are to be honoured at this year’s Seawork International Exhibition.

Around 50 new products will be featured at the event’s innovations showcase, with the best being awarded a new prize, the Spirit of Innovation trophy.

The Seawork International Exhibition is held at Southampton port from May 22 to 24, and is organised by Fareham firm Mercator.

Aline Pilcher, a spokesman for the firm, said: ‘The Innovations Showcase, started in 2003, is a not-to-be-missed feature of Seawork.

‘The display highlights the imagination and resources that companies and laboratories bring to bear in the quest for efficiency, economy and safety, designed into products and technologies required to perform in unique and challenging environments.’

Around 90,000 people have attended the exhibition since it began 15 years ago.
