THE 23rd Portsmouth International Kite Festival will take place on Southsea Common over the bank holiday weekend.

Attracting more than 100 flyers from four continents, it is recognised as one of the top events of its type in the world.

In recognition of the centenary of the start of the First World War, the theme for this year’s festival will be 20th century historic kites, original or replica.

From 10am to 5pm on Friday to Sunday, flying displays there will be on the common along with other activities and entertainment including a children’s kite workshop, donkey rides and a fun fair.

A variety of kites will be on sale.
