TWELVE expert judges are currently deliberating over hundreds of entries to decide who should be crowned this year’s winners at the Hair and Beauty awards.

More 150 entries were received for this year’s awards, which take place at Portsmouth Guildhall in July.

Each of the 13 categories has a plethora of worthy contenders and the judges will be working out who has made the shortlist, before they pick out their overall winners.

The shortlist will be announced in a special supplement in next Thursday’s newspaper and the winner will be revealed at a glamorous ceremony on Saturday, July 4.

Event organiser Liz Parker said: ‘I can’t believe how good all the entries are, the judges have such a tough job.

‘That’s why I’m glad that we’ve got some really solid and renowned names from the local hair and beauty industry involved in picking out the best.’

This year the judges are: Gareth Penn, from the Good Salon Guide, Tony Wood from Tony Wood Hairdressing, Becci Gibbons and Leanne Madigan from Diamond Quay, Emily and Peter Warne from Headromance, Marelize de Beurs, from Portsmouth Cultural Trust, and Alec Payne from St Vincent College.

Also on the panel are: Salina Windridge from Highbuy College, Anthony Barns-Smith from Q Hair, Jonny Engstrom from Guy Kremer Salon and Jude Butlin from Posh Beauty Chichester.

Tickets can be bought from the website jpsouthevents.co.uk. They cost £48 and include a three-course black-tie dinner followed by entertainment and dancing.
