ENTREPRENEUR and West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady will speak at Portsmouth Football Club’s business club brunch meeting tomorrow.

The former chief executive of Birmingham City FC, and star of television show The Apprentice, will attend the Pompey Business Club brunch as part of her visit to Portsmouth as Conservative Party Small Business Ambassador, and is eager to view the work that the football club is doing in the business community.

Mark Catlin, the club’s chief executive, said: ‘It’s fantastic news that Karren is taking the time to come to Fratton Park and see for herself the excellent work that the club is doing, both in regards of promoting business links within Portsmouth and the work generally being done in the community.’

Anna Mitchell, the club’s sponsorship sales manager, added: ‘The launch of the business club initiative is a way to engage with the business community and become the hub of the business community in the south.

‘We’re honoured that Karren has recognised the work we are doing and she is a terrific ambassador for business.’

Karren, whose father Terry Brady is a former director of Pompey, will also visit Gosport and meet budding entrepreneurs at Bay House School.

Speaking ahead of the visit, Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage said: ‘It’s exciting to have such a well-known and successful businesswoman come to Gosport.

‘Engaging young people with business from an early age is essential to fostering enthusiasm for entrepreneurialism and I’m confident that having heard from Karren, Bay House students will be inspired to follow in her footsteps and forge a career in business.’

Tickets for the Pompey event are £15 and have to be purchased online at tickets.portsmouthfc.co.uk/online. The event will take place at Fratton Park and guests should arrive for registration at 9.45am.

Parking is available in the club’s main car pack, which can be accessed via Anson Road.
