DOGS that are waiting for a home can do so in an improved kennel, after an animal shelter received a boost from a recruitment firm.

The dog kennel at The Stubbington Ark, which is run by the RSPCA, has been the focus of a whole new makeover thanks to Dynamite Recruitment.

The recruitment company sponsored the refurbishment of dog kennel and staff spent hours helping the team by painting and gardening around the kennel.

Helen Pyper, operations director at Dynamite, which is based in Havant, said: ‘We are all an office of dog lovers, I think we have around 15 dogs amongst all of us.

‘Each year the staff get to choose a charity to support and this year we decided to chose The Stubbington Ark RSPCA Animal Shelter.

‘We were aware that they have very little funding, as it’s run by volunteers and so we wanted to do something to help the shelter.’

The dog kennel needed a complete revamp which cost a total of around £5,000.

Helen added: ‘When we went to visit before it was dark and there was a problem with damp, there was no lighting and no flooring. It meant that the whole place needed brightening up, even kitchen repairs and new windows.

‘The dogs were moved while the refurb took place, but when the dogs got back, we went down to go and see the refurbishment of the shelter. It’s a much brighter and nicer experience. It’s a great platform for the visitors and it means the dogs can be shown in their best light.’

Mark White, the intake dog supervisor at The Stubbington Ark said the firm’s support was appreciated.

He said: ‘It means a massive deal to all of us to have the kennel blocks looking so lovely.

‘They are all fresh and clean for the dogs to spend their days in there. We’ve put heating into the block and new flooring which makes it much more hygienic. It also looks good for the public to see the kennels painted nice and brightly.

‘It gives us the opportunity to take in and help more dogs around the area when we need to. We’re very happy with the final result and all the help that we’ve received is so greatly appreciated. It does mean a lot to all of the staff and the dogs.’

Dynamite Recruitment has won a plethora of awards, including being named Employer of The Year in Johnston Press South Business Awards 2016 and Employer of the Year at The News Business Excellence Awards 2015.
