A TEAM of legal experts has scooped a top award for its work helping to save Portsmouth Football Club.

The hard work and support given by the insolvency and business turnaround team at Verisona Law has been praised throughout the world of professional services.

And now it has won an Insolvency & Rescue Award.

A panel of more than 20 judges agreed that Verisona Law, based in 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, made an exceptional contribution to the industry in the past year.

The panel, which included the chief executive officer of the Insolvency Practitioners’ Association, said the firm showed itself more than worthy of the national title.

Nick Oliver, who heads the team at Verisona, said: ‘Just to be short-listed by such an expert panel was a tremendous compliment.

‘At first, I don’t think we quite believed it, but once the announcement had sunk in, we were all elated.’

The firm was short-listed for Insolvency Firm of the Year.

‘The work we did was for the people of Portsmouth, the fans and the consortium, including the Portsmouth Supporters’ Trust,’ added Vincent Denham, Verisona’s chief executive officer.

‘At the time, we were just focused on seeing the project through, but upon reflection and, in light of interest and plaudits from various business communities, we are beginning to realise that we achieved something pretty special. We’re touched by the congratulations we’ve received since the win was announced and all proud of each other.’
