BRAND and reputation have never been more important.

That was the message at an event held by communications agency, Leepeckgroup, in which business leaders in Portsmouth attended.

The seminar was held in partnership with Business South - a firm which unites business leaders to drive economic prosperity.

Leepeckgroup held the event at the Porsche Centre, in Lakeside Business Park, Cosham.

Called Meet the Business Transformers, the session emphasised the importance of brand and reputation.

Business leaders heard the message that brand is king and were given an insight into how world class brands maintain their commercial advantage.

Phil Price, Leepeckgroup client services director, has worked at a senior level in marketing with ferry company P&O Cruises and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

He gave a talk explaining how world class brands keep it simple.

Mr Price also drew upon four practical tips which businesses of every size can use to enhance their focus and performance.

He said: ‘The four tips are needing to know your competitors, don’t have a mission statement have a call to arms, know exactly what your brand stands for.

‘Also businesses need to communicate brilliantly.’

He added: ‘The transformers event was a great success.

‘It was fantastic to meet so many different types of businesses and apply big brand thinking for them.’

Business South champion manager, Leigh-Sara Timberlake, said the event was a real success.

She said: ‘Our role as the region’s leading business organisation is to promote the central south as a great place in which to do business.

‘We have more than 250 champions from both the public and private sectors whose ambition will help the region to thrive and prosper.’

Centre principal for the Porsche Centre, Phil Brine added: ‘It was great to have the seminar hosted at the Porsche Centre in Portsmouth and that brand is such an important element in the automotive business.’
