A TOWN centre store will be closed for a day for refurbishment.

Wilkinson, in The Meridian Centre, Havant, will be closed on Wednesday and will reopen at 9am the next day.

Pompey legend Linvoy Primus will perform the opening ceremony with the team mascot, Nelson the Bear, along with eight long-serving members of staff who have been at the store since it opened in 2002.

A traditional Roman Centurion entertainer will be welcoming guests between 10am and 2pm, and the store will be hosting a garden party-themed cake sale to raise money for Wilkinson’s charity of the year, Age UK.

The first 100 customers to walk through Wilkinson’s doors will also be given a free bag of sweets from 9am.

Customers will be able to buy a selection of cupcakes, scones, and Victoria sponges, as well as other traditional treats from 10am.

The fun continues on Saturday when a face painter will be in store to entertain the children between 10am and 4pm.

Shoppers looking to give their dads a treat will be entered into the draw to win a hamper full of goodies, including a pair of Wilkinson gardening gloves, planting equipment and barbecue products.
