THE Post Office has agreed longer opening hours for a village branch.

Southern Co-operative has a Post Office counter in its Westbourne store.

It will shut for refurbishment on November 17 and reopen two days later. It will then open on Sundays and almost 60 hours longer a week.

Customers will be able to use Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

They can make withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

Area manager Adrian Skinner said: ‘The modernisation is part of a major government investment programme enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy to the end of the decade.’
