A LUXURIOUS railway company set up by a Hampshire entrepreneur will make stops in Fareham and Havant.

The service will run rail excursions to locations not served by charter trains on unusual and interesting railway routes.

The first train will depart from Eastleigh on Wednesday, April 9 bound for Canterbury in Kent. This train will call at Botley, Fareham, Havant and Petersfield.

Entrepreneur Roger Hardingham, from Hamble, said: ‘This is a very exciting new venture that will appeal to people who have watched Michael Portillo’s BBC programme Great British Railway Journeys and been inspired to explore and find out more about the wonderful history and landscapes of England, Wales and Scotland.’

Another excursion will depart from Brighton destined for Shrewsbury via Fareham, Southampton, Salisbury and the Severn Tunnel then along the scenic Welsh Marches route in July.
