WATERLOOVILLE’S main post office will close for two weeks while maintenance work is carried out.

The post office in Wellington Way will close on Friday.

From Saturday, a temporary portable unit will be set up in Maurepas Way for customers to use over the fortnight.

The branch will be located in the car park between Asda and Waterlooville Community Centre.

Andrew Thompson, regional manager for the Post Office, said: ‘We apologise to customers for the temporary relocation of Waterlooville Crown Post Office.

‘We are carrying out some essential works and hope to have the office open again within two weeks.

‘The safety of our customers is of paramount importance to us.

‘Therefore, to allow for the maintenance work to be carried out it will be necessary for the service to temporarily relocate to the portable unit.’

The opening hours will not be affected and a wide range of services will still be on offer at the portable unit, Mr Thompson said.

The Wellington Way branch is scheduled to reopen on Monday, March 25.

Officers from Havant Borough Council worked closely with Post Office officials and Waterlooville Area Community Association to ensure that a temporary branch was set up to cause minimum disruption to residents.
