A LARGE project is underway at Goodwood Aerodrome to renovate its runways.

Major work is underway to improve drainage and to provide a smoother runway surface.

Phase one started in January and the regraded runways are scheduled to reopen in July. There will be two further phases of development, which will take place over the next two years.

Engineering firm Jacobs was drafted in to design the new drainage system and Salisbury-based sports turf specialists MJ Abbott have started the groundworks.

Goodwood Aerodrome manager Dave Ford said: ‘We are extremely fortunate and appreciative of being in a position to invest in the aerodrome facilities.

‘The works are progressing very well at the moment and we are hopeful that they will be completed on schedule.’
