THREE friends have teamed up to introduce a new style of business to Southsea.

Keepers of the Peculiar was founded by Morgan Barnes, Stefano Pollina and Dave Bean.

The antique shop and photography studio is in a converted garage on Victoria Road South.

The team worked tirelessly to turn the site into an inviting store and studio.

Owner Morgan Barnes said: ‘Dave is a leathersmith so he is great at custom work and I’ve always had an interest in antiques. We love to visit auctions and hunt out beautiful items.

‘With his skillset and my passion for antiques it is wonderful to finally have our own business and a shop with a range of such special items. Soon, we’ll open a tearoom at the back of the shop so people can sit down and enjoy a drink.’

The shop is in two sections, an antique store and a studio.

Morgan said: ‘Our launch weekend was fantastic. We had live music and local business owners and customers dropped in. Everyone has been so supportive and they seem fascinated by our items.’

The Keepers of the Peculiar team sell a range of antiques.

The shop is full of Edwardian and Victorian furniture, artwork and more.

Morgan said: ‘Before we opened all of the stock was stored in our house. It was difficult knowing that I couldn’t keep it all!’

The photography studio section of the business is run by photographer Stefano Pollina.

Stefano said: ‘I met Morgan and Dave some years ago. We’re a creative bunch and Portsmouth is a great place to utilise creativity, so we went for it! In the studio I take pictures of people, pets, whatever my client needs. It is also available for hire and I’m running masterclasses so students or fans of photography can come in and learn techniques.’
