MARK Francois has welcomed the deal to secure Emirates sponsorship of the Spinnaker Tower.

The new minister for Portsmouth said it was an exciting deal and the region will reap the benefits of being exposed to an even wider audience than every before.

‘I think it’s quite an exciting development for the city,’ he said.

‘Emirates is one of the most successful airlines in the world and I understand as part of this, it will be advertising Portsmouth on incoming flights.

‘That really is putting Portsmouth on the global map.’

Mr Francois was set to visit the D-Day Museum, in Southsea, today as part of the D-Day 71 commemorations happening this weekend.
