TEN new big-name retailers have signed up to Whiteley’s new shopping centre.

The new lettings feature a mix of national brands including River Island, Clarks, The Entertainer, Mamas and Papas, Schuh, Paperchase, Claire’s, Moss, Costa Coffee and Prezzo.

Others already confirmed include H&M, Boots, JD Sports, Bank, Sports Direct, Frankie & Benny’s and Starbucks.

The announcement was made by Whiteley Co-Ownership Trust – a joint venture between British Land and Universities Superannuation Scheme Limited.

Councillor Mike Evans, chairman of Whiteley Parish Council, said: ‘We are delighted by the latest names that will be coming to Whiteley, and we continue to work closely with the Whiteley Co-Ownership to provide an exciting mix of both national and local shops for Whiteley’s population.’

The £64m development is due to open in spring next year.

The shopping centre will comprise more than 50 shops, restaurants and cafés centred around a new town square.

The scheme will also provide 1,136 free car park spaces.
