A CONSTRUCTION firm is looking forward to a new era of ownership following a £2.5m management buyout.
Safeguard, based off Roads Hill in Catherington, was set up by Darren Gould 15 years ago and specialises in insurance repairs on residential homes and commercial property.
It has now been bought out by its management team, which consists of operations director Andrew Thomas, sales and marketing director Nigel Price and technical director Peter Harms.
Darren, as managing director, is also part of the team and will remain managing director.
Mr Harms said: ‘It’s Darren’s company and this is a way of him moving forward while enabling the team to stick together.
‘The company has been running for about 15 years and we have 15 office staff and a strong fleet of contractors who work for us, as well as a team of surveyors.
‘We’ve also just started a drying company, which basically dries out people’s houses which have been flooded so that repairs can be made.’
The buyout was done at the beginning of March, but the deal has now been finalised. Safeguard used west country business specialists Prydis to run the buyout.
Andrew Thomas said the business is growing every year.
He added: ‘Darren built it up from scratch and made it what it is today. I’ve been here seven-and-a-half years, and I’ve seen it grow hugely since then.
‘We’re now looking to grow even more in terms of the area we cover.’
