A NEW restaurant is due to open at the flourishing Port Solent leisure hub.

The Zippers American restaurant, bar and grill is set to open in August after a £500,000 fit-out, and will bring 20 new jobs to the area.

It will have a new first-floor balcony built, so customers can enjoy views across the marina and to Portchester Castle.

Owned by operator Richoux Group, it is their second restaurant on the Port Solent waterfront.

Richoux Group also owns Dean’s Diner, which opened on The Boardwalk in 2011 and has been a success.

Ed Standring is the managing director of the group.

He said: ‘We are looking forward to opening Zippers at Port Solent.

‘It is a superb destination for dining out, entertainment and sailing and we are pleased to be opening Zippers in the company of other excellent restaurants.’
