A FORMER Portsmouth pub has been transformed into a new Spar store.

Businessman Amir Sattari has opened his fifth Hampshire store, at the site of the former New Roebuck pub in New Road, Buckland.

Thanks to a co-investment project with Appleby Westward, Spar’s regional distribution company, he has introduced a coffee and a food-to-go service, a large fruit and vegetable selection and eco-friendly chiller cabinets for a range of chilled products.

Mr Sattari first opened a Spar store in Emsworth 25 years ago.

Nick Kenworthy, sales and marketing director for Appleby Westward, said: ‘It is a demonstration of how co-investment with us can really deliver outstanding state-of-the-art stores to give retailers increased profit margin.’
