AN ESTABLISHED truck dealership has launched a new truck rental service across the south of England.
MC Group has set up a new division with more than 1,000 vehicles making up MC Rental.
The Portsmouth-based business will have a range of make and models including trucks, pick-ups and trailers.
Within days of the launch, demand for the new fleet has come from a range of companies including caterers and logistic companies.
Dean Tizard has been appointed as a rental sales executive at MC, which has a depot at Dundas Spur, Dundas Lane, Copnor, dating back to 1998.
He said: ‘Already in the first few days we are seeing demand from hauliers, caterers and event management specialists in and around the Portsmouth area.
‘Rental means they can flex up as operating environments.
‘This, then, further improves on the back of what appears to be a noticeable upturn in the economy in the second quarter of this year.
‘We’ve been keeping British business on the road for 37 years.
‘And our new rental offering, born out of feedback from customers who want the reassurance of the MC pedigree, will meet the changing needs of local, regional and national companies.
‘Some of them may well not be in a position at this stage to commit to longer term leasing or buying trucks, so rental makes commercial sense.’
Dean, who was previously with commercial vehicle rental company Ryders in Portsmouth for eight years, added: ‘We anticipate new jobs being created down the line as the rental service grows, which is more good news for the local economy.’
Established in 1976, MC Group comprises MC Bus & Truck, which provides commercial vehicle servicing, repairs, contract maintenance and preventive maintenance, and the newly unveiled rental arm.
The group, which also sells Volvo and Isuzu trucks, has other depots in Blandford, Dorset, Burgess Hill in Sussex, Hythe and Maidstone in Kent and Thurrock and Witham in Essex.
