FARMLAND 400 metres outside of Gosport’s boundary will be the new venue for Gosfest.

With just 71 days to go until the four-day music festival, organisers Eventures has revealed Newlands Farm as their new site.

We are however pleased, and extremely grateful to the land owners, to have found an ideal site

The festival will be in the section of the farm near Peel Common roundabout, on Gosport Road, located next to the enterprise site Daedalus.

Director of the company Chloe Palmer said: ‘We are pleased to finally announce that we have formed an agreement with a local private land owner for a suitable site for GosFest.

‘As a company, we were saddened that Gosport Borough Council withdrew their land bookings from us.

‘However in the event industry, although rare, this sort of thing does happen unfortunately.

‘We had planned for this and had an alternate site but this was some distance out of the town and we wanted to exhaust all possibilities in the local area first.

‘Regrettably, despite several generous land offers, we couldn’t find a suitable venue within Gosport.

‘We are however pleased, and extremely grateful to the land owners, to have found an ideal site just a mere 400 metres outside Gosport, which we hope is close enough.’

Eventures was forced to look for a new location after Gosport Borough Council cancelled the provisional booking for the festival to be held on Stokes Bay.

The council revealed in April that the company could not use any council-owned land for the festival which runs from July 30 until August 2.

Its reasons for the cancellation were due to Eventures advertising the event as being on council land when they were asked not to until insurance policies were in place. Because it is on private land it does not need permission from the council to take place.

But after weeks of finalising a new venue, visitors will see headline acts James Arthur, Union J and Scouting for Girls at Newlands Farm.

Ms Palmer added: ‘The new site is larger than Stokes Bay and enables us to provide ample parking in addition to everything that was planned for the old site.

‘We will be providing free shuttle bus services from Fareham train station, Gosport ferry and bus station and various pick-up points en route.

‘Selected family-only services will also be running for those travelling with children.

‘GosFest has continued to grow and be recognised all over the country, and the brand has seen an increase in ticket sales from outside the town.’
