Have your say

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has launched an investigation into the contracts offered by some gym and fitness club chains to determine whether they are fair.

Concerns have been raised about the difficulties faced by some people when they try to end their contracts.

The OFT said it has opened an investigation under the Enterprise Act 2002 into ‘a number of companies that operate gym and fitness club chains or who provide management services to gyms’.

It is considering whether these companies are using or recommending unfair contract terms and engaging in unfair business practices in breach of regulations.

The watchdog is not naming the companies under investigation.
