BUSINESSES which need the personal touch to see them flourish are being given the opportunity to get one-to-one help.

The Shaping the Future of Portsmouth’s business and enterprise group has set up a series of sessions, helping business owners meet and chat to people who can help them take their business to the next level.

The first event – called Meet the Investor – will take place on Tuesday at Lakeside in North Harbour from 7.30am until 9am, and on Wednesday at the New Theatre Royal in Southsea, from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Each one-to-one session will last for around 20 minutes.

Stuart Hill, who is the chairman of the business and enterprise group, said: ‘This programme will run under an umbrella initiative from the Shaping the Future of Portsmouth business and enterprise group, which we are tagging as the Portsmouth Enterprise Master Class.

‘This is separate from networking on one hand and mentoring on the other.

‘It’s the result of much discussion with small and medium-sized enterprises in the city, and we believe it will address a key gap in support for local businesses.’

The plan is to offer a regular monthly event, with subjects ranging from business planning, communications, marketing, human resources and legal advice, through to more specific topics such as retailing and advertising.

There are also plans to offer a series of lunchtime online tutorials, called Lunch and Learn, which will be a web chat with an expert that interested businesses can follow.
